Greg Conly's New Rug Collection for Eastern Knots
Eastern Knots, now one of America’s leading importers of hand-made Tibetan rugs introduces their new Greg Conly Designers Collection.
After graduating from Philadelphia College of Textile and Science, I began to learn the trade of designing hand-woven carpets in the Tibetan tradition. I traveled to Nepal and Pakistan to broaden my understanding of the process and work with local designers and craftsmen. The experience was not only the opportunity of a lifetime for a designer, it opened my eyes to the richness of a culture half-a-world away which today can be brought into our Western world through an object as simple as a rug.
Ten years later, I was given the opportunity to be an artist in a residency program in Costa Rica, one of the most bio-diverse places on earth. This line of rugs, created with Eastern Knots, is a reflection of my work in the program.

Costa Rica not only has an abundance of floral and fauna but is rustic and contains eleven different microclimates. I lived in a home made of bamboo, and saw things I never knew existed. I'm very happy to have been given the opportunity to translate some of my life experiences into a craft I love, hand-knotted carpets. —Greg Conly
